JDS Uniphase consolidates operations

In a strategy to reduce costs, JDS Uniphase plans to restructure its manufacturing operations. The company will transfer manufacturing facilities from Ewing and Mountain Lakes, NJ, to Fabrinet, one of its manufacturing partners; the transfer should be complete by the end of June. In addition, by the end of the year, the company expects to phase out some of the products produced at its Santa Rosa, CA, plant, including high-volume consumer light engines and coated micro display windows.
