Portable strain-measurement system

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 6/1/2005

Connected to a notebook PC's Ethernet port, the StrainBook/616 provides eight channels of strain measurement, expandable in eight-channel increments up to 64 channels. The unit is powered through an AC adapter or optional rechargeable battery and can be powered directly from any 9-VDC to 30-VDC source, such as an automotive battery. Its 16-bit, 1-MHz analog-to-digital converter covers a sampling range from minutes to microseconds. StrainBook's high-speed Ethernet connection ensures continuous data streaming to a PC in real time. The StrainBook accommodates a wide range of bridge, pressure transducer, and load cell designs from 120 ohms to 1000 ohms, including full-, half-, and quarter-bridge configurations. Base price: $5999. IOtech, www.iotech.com.
