Targeting serial-intensive embedded applications, the SIO-104+8.485 supplies eight RS-485 ports on a PC/104 form-factor module, including UARTs with 128-byte FIFOs for communication at up to 921.6 kbps. The board automatically handles the RS-485 driver enable, allowing the RS-485 ports to be viewed by the operating system as standard COM ports. Interfacing is accomplished through dual 40-pin header connectors. Price: $219 (low volume).
