Active vibration isolation system

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 10/1/2005

This compact, lightweight floor-mount or tabletop system uses active feedback control to provide vibration isolation not possible with standard passive systems. Rapidly adjusting to different loads without user intervention, the 8001 Series dynamically isolates all six translational and rotational modes of vibration. With an ultra-low natural frequency of less than 1 Hz, the platform produces no low-frequency resonance. It actively damps vibrations from 1.0 Hz to 1000 Hz. Isolation begins at 0.7 Hz and increases rapidly to 40 dB at 10 Hz, where isolation efficiency is typically 99%. The standard aluminum 8001 Series platform weighs only 40 lbs., yet is 500 times stiffer than an air table. Load capacities range from 330 lbs. to 600 lbs.
