Complying with RoHS and WEEE

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 4/1/2006

In the March issue of Test & Measurement World , senior technical editor Martin Rowe reported on the efforts of two North American companies—Sealevel Systems and Exfo—to comply with the European Union's RoHS and WEEE directives ("Lead makes an electronic exit," p. 37). The online version of the article includes links to additional resources about the two directives and also includes a list of questions you should ask to assess your own readiness for compliance. Provided by Thermo Electron, these questions encourage you to

  • look at your RoHS training program,
  • evaluate your product design, and
  • determine whether your suppliers are taking steps to comply with the directives.

In addition, Martin Rowe comments on the state of electronics recycling in the US and invites readers to contribute their own observations. www.tmworld.com/2006_03.
