Attend a PXI seminar
By Greg Reed, Technical Editor -- Test & Measurement World, 6/1/2006
Having recently attended one of the free PXI Technology and Applications Conference (TAC) events (www.pxitac.com), I highly recommend the experience. Put on by PXI Systems Alliance members, these traveling seminars give engineers the opportunity to learn from experts in classroom-style presentations with ample networking downtime.
PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation (PXI) is an open standard for measurement and test automation, and the TAC events feature information delivered by test company presenters without the sales commercial. My take-aways included guidelines for integrating PXI systems and for devising communications test systems.
After 10 years of R&D investment and product development, the PXI Alliance partners have much to tell about the modular bus. By building automated test systems, and by pioneering test technologies such as PXI Express, these vendors have helped manufacturers reduce their investment in test infrastructure and shorten the time to market for many applications.
There are four seminars left on the schedule: Tijuana, Mexico (June 2); Minneapolis, MN (June 8); Washington, DC (June 13); and Boston, MA (June 15). If you can attend one of the remaining sessions, I advise you to do so. (Disclaimer—Although not participating directly in the PXI TAC, T&MW is a media sponsor of the event.)
