Module sports 16 RS-485 ports

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 6/1/2006

Intended for serial-intensive embedded applications in military, commercial, and industrial settings, Sealevel Systems' SIO-104+16.485 supplies 16 RS-485 ports on a PC/104-compliant module. To simplify RS-485 communication, the board automatically handles the RS-485 driver enable, allowing the RS-485 ports to be viewed by the operating system as standard COM ports.

The SIO-104+16.485 includes UARTs with 128-byte FIFO buffers for error-free communication at up to 921.6 kbps. Interfacing is accomplished through a 40-pin header. The board comes with Sealevel's SeaCOM suite of Windows drivers and the WinSSD application to assist in development and troubleshooting. Base price: $349 (low-volume quantities).
