Accelerometer for safety crash testing

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 8/1/2006

Measurement Specialties has introduced the Model 62 accelerometer for automotive safety crash testing. Compliant with SAE J211 standards for anthropomorphic dummy instrumentation and featuring seismic mass location at its center point, the Model 62 is available in 50-, 200-, 500-, and 2000-g ranges.

The device contains a piezoresistive MEMS sensing element that offers a full bridge output configuration with a compensated temperature range from 0 to +50º C. A slight amount of internal gas damping provides shock survivability and a flat amplitude/phase response up to 7 kHz. Featuring a low zero offset of ±25 mV and ±1% non-linearity (FSO), the Model 62 can be powered from 2 to 10 Vdc with signal outputs to 300 mV. Measurement Computing, www.meas-spec.com
