Halcon adds frame-grabber support

-- Test & Measurement World, 1/23/2007 5:28:00 AM

A new Halcon interface from MVTec enables image-processing filter operations to run directly on Silicon Software’s microEnable III frame grabber in conjunction with Silicon Software’s VisualApplets Studio.

The image preprocessing takes place within the frame grabber’s FPGA to offload the imaging system’s main processor. The preprocessing handles functions such as noise reduction. The user does not need any expertise of FPGA programming and nevertheless can select which algorithms are preprocessed by the FPGA and which remain for the subsequent processing on the system host processor and application software.
