Sunstone touts concept-to-delivery PCB strategy

-- Test & Measurement World, 2/23/2007 7:58:00 AM

Sunstone Circuits, a specialist in prototype and high-mix, low-volume PCB design and production, chose APEX (February 20-22, Los Angeles, CA) to introduce what the company describes as its ECOsystem, “a strategic vision to consolidate and improve the PCB prototyping process for designers from concept-to-delivery through the integration of four discrete segments of PCB prototyping.”

Nolan Johnson, Sunstone’s CAD/EDA product manager, described those four segments as follows:

--knowledge (gained by experienced PCB designers),

--tools (design packages and software),

--libraries and parts (involving the sourcing and tracking of components), and

--fabrication (involving manufacturing expertise and capabilities).

Johnson says that traditionally, each of these segments was the domain of specialized companies that protected their intellectual property, creating barriers between segments that lead to a loss of design information and expertise while adding production time and cost. He added that Sunstone’s goal is to lift the barriers between these segments to help designers produce working prototypes in shorter times with fewer re-spins.

“Sunstone is leading innovation and creativity in the PCB industry, and we strive to provide the easiest, hassle-free customer experience to quote, order, and receive a completed board,” said Terry Heilman, Sunstone CEO. “We want to support designers from the time their project is conceived up until it is completed.”
