Power supplies offer soft-panel interfaces

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 3/1/2007

Chroma’s 62000P series of DC power sources and the 66200 power meter now include graphical soft panels that allow users to control instruments remotely using point-and-click screens on any Windows-based PC. Once installed, the soft panel communicates with the instrument through an RS-232 or GPIB interface.

The soft panel for the DC power source enables users to program test sequences, square waves, triangle waves, and other voltage ramp functions, as well as control multiple sources in parallel, series, or independently.

The power meter’s soft panel helps users control voltage and current readings and ranges, frequency readings, THD measurements, user-defined criteria for pass/fail information, real-time measurements, report generation, in-rush current and energy measurements, and real-time GUI graphing.
