The new PT-LabCar is a scaleable, virtual simulator designed for testing automotive powertrain electronic control unit (ECU) software. It includes a PC running Linux, a programmable power supply with boards for generating signals and measurements (including engine ECU I/O), and the LabCar System Software Pack for operation and model integration.
In addition to these three components, PT-LabCar offers optional extensions for fault simulation and for integration with INCA measurement and calibration tools and also offers a breakout box for manual access to all ECU pins. An optional transmission ECU I/O set is also available.
According to ETAS, PT-LabCar provides all external signals needed to connect with gasoline engine ECUs up to 8 cylinders, diesel engine ECUs up to 12 cylinders, and with all transmission ECUs. The virtual simulators allow engineers to bench test software in hot, cold, or high altitude conditions, and the software testing can be fully automated.
