Portable oscilloscopes offer deep memory

With the six models in its new 5000 series of oscilloscopes, Agilent Technologies has combined 1 Mpoint of deep memory and high-resolution waveform acquisition and measurement capability in what it calls "lunchbox-sized" instruments. These portable oscilloscopes can acquire up to 100,000 waveforms/s and can display signals in 256 levels of intensity grading, a capability that highlights varying degrees of signal activity and enables engineers to view signal anomalies as they occur.
The 5000 series oscilloscopes also offer front- and back-panel USB ports as well as GPIB, LAN, and XGA-out connections. (See table, below, for a list of the six models and their specifications.)
"Engineers need tools capable of handling today's complex design challenges," said Jay Alexander, general manager of Agilent's Design Validation Division. "The new 5000 Series oscilloscopes tackle these needs head-on with their deep memory, high-definition display system, and superior ability to capture signal transients. This delivers on two things engineers care most about: catching design bugs before they get to their customers and increasing their own productivity."
