Schott highlights fiber-optic and LED portfolio
-- Test & Measurement World, 6/19/2007 9:17:00 AM
At the International Robots & Vision Show, Schott formally introduced to the North American market new products in its fiber-optic and LED portfolio.
A new addition to its COLDVision family of products, the MaVi-S machine-vision strobe-light source serves applications in industrial image processing. Combined with fiber optics and user-supplied cameras, the MaVi-S is designed to be used in machine-vision applications where brief, intense light pulses are needed to create bright, high-contrast images.
The MaVi-S features a xenon bulb and is operated with touchpad control. The unit is optimized to be used in conjunction with Schott COLDVision fiber optics. With its lockdown input, it also accepts a variety of fiber ferrule sizes. For optimal control, the MaVi-S is designed with a touchpad with variable trigger, intensity, frequency, and burst controls. The unit can also be remotely controlled through an RS-232 interface.
The company also presented a hybrid LED and fiber-optic product designed for machine vision. The LLS offers a long lifetime of 50,000 hours and is available in a variety of wavelength bands, including red, white, amber, green, blue, and UV. The LLS features an external triggered strobe mode with a maximum 1-kHz pulse rate. The unit also possesses a nonvolatile memory for storing operating parameters, which allows it to automatically restore operating conditions on power up. The LLS is compatible with all of Schott’s COLDVision fiber-optic light guides, and adaptors for other light guides are also available.
Finally, the company also presented its Surface Mounted Display (SMD) high-brightness LED line for high-volume web scanning and diffuse surface inspection of paper, wood, and other materials for quality and defects.
