Robots & Vision sees lights, cameras, optics, frame grabbers

The International Robots & Vision Show (June 12-14, Rosemont, IL) saw the debut of cameras from Toshiba Teli, Point Grey, and Lumenera; Schott introduced new products in its fiber-optic and LED portfolio, and Edmund Optics highlighted new fast lenses. In addition, companies including Allied Vision Technologies, Basler, Cognex, Imperx, Vision Components, Sony, JAI, Active Silicon, Epix, PixeLink, and Innovative Optics & Illumination were on hand to highlight recently introduced cameras, sensors, frame grabbers, and lighting.
Toshiba Teli America (www.toshiba-teli.com) launched its CSB1000, the company’s fastest camera to date, offering uncompressed frame rates of 443 fps at 1280 x 1024-pixel resolution for high-speed, smear-free image capture. Edmund Optics (www.edmundoptics.com) highlighted two new fast, fixed-focal-length-lenses that offer object-space resolution better than two line-pairs per millimeter and are available in focal lengths such as 8.5 and 12 mm. Point Grey Research (www.ptgrey.com) announced the introduction of its Grasshopper line of IEEE-1394b (FireWire) cameras. Lumenera (www.lumenera.com) announced the release of the Lw570 and Lw575 series of color USB 2.0 cameras, designed for use in a variety of industrial and scientific applications demanding high resolution and low-light performance. Schott (www.us.schott.com) formally introduced to the North American market new products in its fiber-optic and LED portfolio. Basler (www.basler-vc.com) was on hand to highlight its scout and pioneer cameras; after the show, the company introduced new driver software for them.
Allied (www.alliedvisiontec.com) displayed the new Guppy F-146 1.4-Mpixel color and black-and-white cameras. Imperx (www.imperx.com) highlighted its TEC family of cameras, which are optimized for low-thermal-noise performance. Cognex (www.cognex.com) displayed its next-generation Checker 200 inspection sensors. Vision Components (www.vision-components.com) demonstrated its EyeSpector 1.4 for industrial image processing; its VisiCube compact smart vision sensor; its VC eXcite single-board cameras; its VC4472, VC4458, and VC4058 smart cameras; and its VC4002 intelligent line-scan camera. Sony (www.sony.com/videocameras) demonstrated its XCI-V3 smart cameras. JAI (www.jai.com) highlighted its new TM-2030 Series, which includes GigE Vision and Camera Link cameras featuring a 16 x 9 aspect ratio and full HDTV resolution of 1920 x 1088 pixels. Active Silicon (www.activesilicon.com) highlighted its Power over Camera Link (PoCL) Phoenix digital frame grabbers. Epix (www.epixinc.com) touted its PIXCI EC1 notebook Camera Link frame grabber and its Silicon Video 5C10 inspection station. PixeLink (www.pixelink.com) showed its USB 2.0 and FireWire cameras and software. Innovative Optics & Illumination (www.i2optics.com) highlighted its topSpot line of LED illuminators.
