2008 Test Engineer of the Year Nominee:
Craig Stoldt

-- Test & Measurement World, 10/1/2007

AEROSPACE TEST
Craig Stoldt
ATE Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Technology

Describing Stoldt's work, Louis Ungar of Advanced Test Engineering Solutions said, "During the past 25+ years, I have met a great number of talented test engineers, but the one person whose all around expertise excels beyond any of the others is Craig D. Stoldt. Craig works as ATE engineering manager at Manufacturing Technology, Inc. (MTI) in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.

"Presently, he leads a number of talented test professionals in designing, building, programming, and maintaining special-purpose automatic test equipment to replace legacy ATE, much of it for avionics applications. As such, he has become an expert on both old ATE technology and new ATE technology and has been able to save millions of dollars worth of effort to reprogram existing test program sets (TPS) by creating ATE from new technology that can mimic and emulate old technology.

Go the ballot and cast your vote.

"He has designed and his team built several such ATEs and has almost single-handedly solved the TPS rehosting problems faced by many in military and avionics testing. This accomplishment is no small task as it is so inherently difficult that the US military alone spends literally millions of dollars each year to rehost or reprogram test program sets.

"To do his job well, Craig needs the skills of a working test engineer, intimately familiar with test program development, test languages, test hardware, system software, and other expertise few test engineers in the world possess. Craig has led TPS development projects, designed ATEs, taught courses on ATLAS, taught courses on ATE architecture, and has consulted in both commercial and military applications. He has been a test engineer for almost three decades, and while he has moved up in the management arena, he has stayed close to the technical aspects of the profession."
