UEI releases 32-channel, 16-bit analog-output board

-- Test & Measurement World, 11/5/2007 9:00:00 PM

United Electronics Industries adds a high-density analog-output board to its portfolio of I/O boards for the PowerDNA Ethernet-based data-acquisition and control family. The DNA-AO-332 provides 32 channels of analog output with 16-bit resolution and a ±10-V output range.

The board is capable of driving ±10 mA, while per-channel digital offset and gain calibration limits gain and offset errors to ±450 µV and ±305 µV, respectively. All 32 channels can be configured to update simultaneously or one at a time as data is written. A 1024-sample FIFO buffer on each channel allows the digital-to-analog converters to be updated at 10 kHz without data loss. By double-buffering the low-glitch outputs, you can generate low-frequency waveforms or provide accurate switched stimuli.

In addition to the PowerDNA series, the DNA-AO0332 is compatible with UEIPAC programmable automation controllers and the UEIModbus family of Modbus TCP data-acquisition and control devices. All three families are based on UEI’s cube architecture (4x4x4 in. or 4x4x5.8 in.). Each cube comprises a core module that holds the processor and network interface, along with three or six open I/O slots. Using multiple DNA-AO-332 boards, you can configure up to 192 analog outputs in a single 4x4x5.8-in. cube.

Software support is provided through the UEIDAQ Framework object-oriented programming environment. The Framework provides an easy-to-use API that supports popular programming and operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and QNX. The board is also fully supported by LabView, MATLAB/Simulink, DASYLab, or any application supporting ActiveX, OPC, or Modbus TCP control. Price: $2400.
