UK optoelectronics device manufacturer and laser diode specialist Photonic Products announces the availability of two high-power, infrared-wavelength GaAlAs laser diodes from Opnext. The HL8337MG and the HL8338MG are suitable light sources for industrial and medical sensor applications, as well as other types of optical equipment, such as distance meters and barcode scanners.
Both the HL8337MG and the HL8338MG have a lasing wavelength of 830 nm typical and an optical output power of 50 mW CW, a multi-quantum well structure, a small package size of 5.6 mm, and a built-in photodiode for monitoring laser output, which allows for easier control of the auto power circuit. Operating current is just 75 mA, which enables power consumption to be lowered without sacrificing optical power output, resulting in greater energy efficiency, extended battery life, and cost savings to OEMs.
The laser diodes come in a 5.6-mm package with a 1N-type (HL8337MG) or 3P-type (HL8338MG) common cathode pin configuration. Devices are lead-free in compliance with the RoHS Directive.
