AT4 Wireless selects Agilent Mobile WiMAX protocol conformance test system
-- Test & Measurement World, 1/3/2008 8:12:00 AM
Agilent Technologies and AT4 Wireless have announced that AT4 Wireless' WiMAX Forum Accredited Lead Lab will use Agilent's N6430A WiMAX protocol conformance test (PCT) and development solution, based on the Agilent E6651A Mobile WiMAX test set for PCT testing of WiMAX devices.
"We are delighted that AT4 wireless will be using the Agilent N6430A as a PCT solution for their lead lab in Spain," said Niels Faché, VP and GM of Agilent's Mobile Broadband Division. "This demonstrates our strength in WiMAX protocol conformance testing, which is part of Agilent's E6651A portfolio of solutions across the entire R&D lifecycle."
Agilent's N6430A PCT offering delivers a test suite for 802.16-2004/Cor2 D3 Mobile WiMAX PCT and development testing with a scripting interface to a fully functional radio bearer. The Agilent E6651A portfolio supports many R&D testing needs in addition to PCT, including base-station emulation, RF parametric measurements, and radiated performance testing (RPT).
"PCT is a critical part of the WiMAX Forum certification testing process," said Fernando E. Hardasmal, deputy general manager at AT4 Wireless. "AT4 Wireless has been working hard with our partners to provide the WiMAX industry with the test facilities and test systems they need. We are thrilled to be starting Mobile WiMAX certification testing with Agilent equipment at our lead lab in Malaga."
AT4 Wireless was appointed as the first worldwide WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratory. "Agilent's test system perfectly complements AT4 Wireless labs' existing capabilities for WiMAX certification," said Jose de la Plaza, Wireless Laboratory manager at AT4 Wireless. "It also helps us to reinforce our position as the WiMAX Forum Lead Lab."
"The N6430A PCT system builds on the E6651A platform strengths developed with our partner Innowireless," said C. J. Meurell, European operations general manager for Agilent's Mobile Broadband Division's WiMAX portfolio. "We have worked hard to integrate and evaluate a very large number of WiMAX PCT test cases. We're very pleased that our system will be used to ensure that WiMAX products conform to WiMAX standards as they hit the market."
A principal member of the WiMAX Forum (www.wimaxforum.org), Agilent is a participant in the development of WiMAX Radio Conformance Test (RCT) documents and procedures. Agilent says it was the first to provide standard-compliant 802.16 physical-layer (PHY) design and test tools for Fixed and Mobile WiMAX applications, including WiBro, allowing users to efficiently simulate, troubleshoot and verify designs.
AT4 wireless was founded in 1991, has more than 300 employees (80% of whom are engineers), and operates from its headquarter in Malaga, Spain, and its US-based branch in Herndon, VA.
