JDSU introduces compact DWDM channel checker
-- Test & Measurement World, 1/7/2008 7:47:00 AM
Claimed to be the industry's smallest and lightest channel checker for DWDM networks, the OCC-56 smart optical channel checker from JDSU is a selective power meter that serves as a low-cost alternative to optical spectrum analyzers.
The OCC-56, which is available in C-band and L-band models, is intended for DWDM system installation and upgrades, channel routing verification in ROADM networks, and troubleshooting DWDM systems. It is compatible with the JDSU TLS-55, a small and lightweight tunable laser source designed for channel routing applications, such as wavelength tracking, in ROADM networks. Together, they provide a compact and economical field solution for wavelength connectivity testing at the optical layer and verification of ROADM functionality.
The OCC-56 supports 50-GHz, 100-GHz, and 200-GHz channel spacing. It also features unlimited data storage capacity on an external thumb drive, an easy-to-read tabular display, and extended battery lifetime using standard rechargeable AA batteries. Dimensions are 95x60x195 mm (3.74x2.36x7.68 in.). The unit weighs 500 g (1.1 lb.).
