Rohde & Schwarz has released the ES-SCAN Windows software for performing electromagnetic interference (EMI) tests with the company's ESPI3 and ESPI7 test receivers. With the combined products, engineers can perform EMI tests during the early stages of product development to catch errors that otherwise would require costly redesign at a later stage.
The ES-SCAN software performs EMI measurements in accordance with commercial electromagnetic compliance (EMC) standards. Preconfigured test setups can set parameters (such as transducer factors for antennas) as specified by the EMC standard selected by the user. The user can also generate and store custom configurations.
EMI peak values are determined automatically with user-defined thresholds, and results are presented in graphical form on the instrument display. Frequency lists created by the user allow measurements to be performed at detected (or suspected) interference frequencies, reducing measurement time. The software offers a variety of marker functions, automatic peak search, automatic data reduction, and several options for report generation.
The user can choose either fully automatic mode, in which the peak list is processed with automatic level measurement at all user-defined frequencies, or semi-automatic mode, which allows fine-tuning to isolate maximum values. The ES-SCAN software runs under Windows XP.
