GL upgrades digital central-office switch simulator

-- Test & Measurement World, 3/19/2008 3:00:00 PM

Used for simulating and testing advanced telecom networks and products, including switches, gateways, and transmission systems, GL Communications’ enhanced Digital Central Office Switch Simulator (DCOSS) converts any Windows-based PC into a central office with T1 and/or E1 trunks, as well as analog and/or BRI ISDN phone interfaces.

In addition to the function that converts the DCOSS into a BRI ISDN terminal phone simulator, DCOSS Version 5.2 includes enhancements in scripting. A traffic randomizer allows you to automatically send any traffic (tone, digit, voice files, fax) randomly or sequentially. Through scripts, the record voice command can now include timestamp, trunk/timeslot, called/calling numbers, and caller ID, which facilitates its use with GL’s VQT and NetViewer applications.

Other commands have been introduced to optimize detection and sending capabilities, creating calling procedures, forward/backward tones (for MFC-R2 and E&M scripts), and to sending flash hooks (either from the GUI or bulk call scripting).

Analog station cards now include caller ID and ring period features, while the enhanced remote client allows direct streaming of audio files to or from the DCOSS to the client remote speakers. Also added is the ability to browse and view the directories of the DCOSS server from the DCOSS client.

For more details on all DCOSS features, you can go to the DCOSS Functions webpage at www.gl.com/dcoss_addfuncfeat.html.
