Test vendors address WiMAX, LTE at CTIA show
-- Test & Measurement World, 4/8/2008 9:12:00 AM
WiMAX and LTE were the focus of test vendors including Agilent Technologies, Anritsu, and Rohde & Schwarz as they exhibited at CTIA Wireless 2008 in Las Vegas, NV, April 1-3.
Agilent demonstrated its WiMAX and 3GPP LTE test portfolio, which addresses the gamut of customers, including chipset and handset designers and manufacturers, network equipment manufacturers, infrastructure designers, and service providers. Agilent’s WiMAX tools on display included signal creation and analysis software for Wave 2 Mobile WiMAX and MIMO development using Agilent Infiniium oscilloscopes and MXG signal generators. Also on display was Wave 2 MIMO testing capability (featuring Agilent's E6651A one-box WiMAX tester), the N8300A wireless networking test set, the J7910A WiMAX signaling analyzer, and the Agilent WiMAX drive test system.
3GPP LTE signal analysis and generation tools on display included a new 3GPP LTE protocol development offering based on the Agilent E6620A wireless communications test set and Anite’s SAT LTE protocol development toolset, available through the Agilent/Anite LTE partnership announced in November 2007. Also on exhibit was the Agilent J7910A signaling analyzer real-time platform, which now includes LTE and SAE technology. Agilent also demonstrated its MXA signal analyzer, with vector signal analysis LTE software, along with Agilent's MXG vector signal generator, with LTE Signal Studio software.
Rohde & Schwarz displays WiMAX tester, LTE tools
Rohde & Schwarz exhibited its award-winning CMW270 WiMAX tester as well as a variety of LTE test offerings. The LTE products at the show included the CMW500 UMTS LTE protocol analyzer. The company also highlighted software options for its signal generators and analyzers that support LTE uplink and downlink measurements as well as a software option that supports physical layer tests on HSPA+ receivers, base-band modules, and RF front-ends. An additional software option, for the company’s SMU200A and SMATE200A vector signal generators and AMU200A base-band signal generator, supports A-GPS (assisted GPS) test.
Rohde & Schwarz also highlighted the fact that it has added MIMO precoding and channel coding to its lineup of LTE signal generators. It also demonstrated a 2x2 MIMO receiver test using a single SMU200A RF signal generator, an AMU200A base-band generator, and a fading simulator. The combination supports WiMAX test for LTE, WiMAX, WLAN, and HSPA+. Finally, the company announced tht it has joined the LTE/SAE Trial Inititive (LSTI).
Anritsu focuses on LTE
Anritsu at CTIA focused on LTE and HSPA+ products, highlighting its MD8480C signaling tester, which supports HSDPA/HSUPA test; its MG3700A vector signal generator, which provides analysis capabilities for OFDMA and MIMO LTE test; and the MS269xA signal-analyzer series, which support LTE measurements. The company also previewed the MD8430 LTE signaling tester, to be released later this year.
Anritsu also introduced three software packages for its MS269xA signal analyzers. The MX269020A LTE downlink measurement software, MX269021A uplink measurement software, and the MX269908A LTE IQproducer software.
