Opticom debuts perceptual audio/video analysis tool
-- Test & Measurement World, 4/26/2008 3:28:00 PM
The PEVQ analyzer from Opticom evaluates the quality of multimedia (QCIF, CIF, VGA), standard-definition (SD), and high-definition (HD) video formats based on perceptual video quality-of-experience (QoE) measurement. Supplied with a front-accessible array of hard-disk drives, the PEVQ analyzer allows synchronous SD and HD recording and playback over a range of interfaces (SD/HD SDI, DVI).
Opticom offers its Perceptual Evaluation of Video Quality (PEVQ) measurement technology in combination with its audio test algorithms: Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) and Perceptual Evaluation of Audio Quality (PEAQ). Together, they form a system capable of delivering audio/video quality metrics in the form of a pair of standardized mean opinion score (MOS) key performance indicators (KPIs).
The PEVQ analyzer is available in desktop and rack-mount configurations, as well as a software-only version.
Opticom also announces a new web portal, www.pevq.org, dedicated to video QoE testing. It offers an up-to-date listing of commercially available video quality test tools that can analyze picture quality by providing an MOS score, just as subscribers would perceive the quality of service. Additionally, you can download a PDF datasheet on the PEVQ analyzer, as well as a PEVQ whitepaper and the Spring 2008 PEVQ Newsletter.
