Message Automation & Protocol Simulation—MAPS for short—is a software tool from GL Communications designed for SIP and MEGACO protocol conformance testing. The SIP portion of the application is for testing SIP proxy servers, redirect servers, registrars, and user agents, such as SIP phones. The MEGACO portion of the application is capable of testing media gateways and media gateway controllers.
The MAPS SIP conformance suite comprises over 300 test cases, per ETSI TS 102 027-2, including general messaging and call flow scenarios for multimedia call session setup and control over IP networks. It also provides logging and pass/fail results. The application gives you unlimited ability to edit SIP messages and control scenarios (message sequences). Messages are created using message templates, and message sequences are generated through scripts. MAPS can also be used as a bulk call generator, which can generate and receive up to 100,000 SIP calls per system.
MAPS can be used to simulate any interface of the VoIP network. A single MAPS can act as more than one SIP entity at a time and can generate any SIP message on wire in the VoIP network.
The MAPS MEGACO conformance suite provides over 300 test cases, per ETSI TS 102 374-2, including built-in scripts to process media gateway control valid and in-valid behaviors. The test library provides test functions to generate MEGACO messages, edit messages, simulate a variety of call flows, and control scenarios. Messages are created using message templates, and message sequences are generated through scripts.
