Used for measuring RF levels and electric field strength, the Model 2640 from B&K Precision employs a synthesizer-based design that provides reliable measurements across a wide reception range of 100 kHz to 2 GHz. It also delivers a low noise floor of –110 dBm to detect weak signals and provides basic spectrum analyzer functions.
The handheld, battery-operated RF field-strength meter detects wideband and narrow-band FM, AM, and SSB signals. It features a built-in 2-GHz frequency counter, phase-locked loop for precise frequency tuning, detachable antenna, backlit display, and RS-232 serial port for communicating with a PC. The unit stores up to 100 waveforms and setups in its internal memory. Convenient presets, such as predefined filter settings, and special functions, like squelch and sweep, make the 2640 easy to use.
You can use the Model 2640 to test, install, and maintain mobile telecommunications systems, cellular and cordless phones, paging systems, and cable and satellite TV systems, as well as for antenna site measurements and maintenance.
Compact and lightweight, the instrument weighs less than 2 lb and is just 4 in. wide, 9 in. high, and 1.8 in. deep. The meter comes with a carrying case, AC adapter, rechargeable batteries, ear phone, N-to-BNC adapter, BNC coaxial cable, rubber antenna, RS-232 cable, and PC-based software. The Model 2640 has an MSRP of $2250.
