Built around a Windows XP Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC) tablet and a calibrated receiver, the Yellowjacket-TABLET from Berkeley Varitronics Systems serves as an 802.11 analyzer that performs RF spectrum analysis continually from 2.0 GHz to 5.9 GHz, covering popular wireless bands such as WiFi, WiMAX, ISM, public safety, and Bluetooth. It also demodulates all 802.11b/a/n/g packets.
Yellowjacket-TABLET’s spectrum analysis features include user-selectable power triggers, three pairs of markers, spectrogram, histogram, video smoothing, waveform averaging, one live trace, and up to four peak hold waveform traces with peak hold/search. The receiver allows you to sweep any signal and instantly display areas of RF interference. It also sweeps and demodulates all 802.11b/a/n/g packets, providing MAC address, SSID, SNR, delay spread, CFR, and more. Yellowjacket measures RSSI to within +1 dB of any nearby 802.11 packet on or off your network and can be used to determine total channel power, multipath, and WISP antenna alignments. In addition, WEP and WPA encryption detection provide instant feedback on the security of all APs on your network.
Weighing just 2 lb, the UMPC tablet is a Samsung Q1 Ultra with a 1.33-GHz Pentium processor and a 7-in. WVGA LCD. Dimensions of this compact unit are just 1x5x9 in. Yellowjacket-TABLET comes with a 2.4-GHz omnidirectional antenna, a 5-GHz omnidirectional antenna, and power adapter.
