Agilent instruments target multiplay test

-- Test & Measurement World, 7/1/2008 9:05:00 AM

Four new products from Agilent Technologies support the development and deployment of multiplay infrastructures. The test instruments offer end-to-end performance monitoring and testing of fixed, mobile, and converged networks, while simplifying complex tasks.

The N2X multiservices test platform combines line-rate, hardware-based performance statistics for video, voice, and data services on the same test port. It provides scalable hardware-based triple play traffic generation and analysis based on user-defined subscriber profiles. Each test port displays video media quality and IPTV channel-zapping metrics, along with voice mean opinion score and data-forwarding performance measurements.

A service assurance solution for the Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV and multimedia software platform, the J6900A triple play analyzer is a complete in-service monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting tool for voice, data, and video applications. It enables service providers and network equipment manufacturers to accelerate deployment of Miediaroom-based IPTV services and provides the tools needed to ensure quality of service.

Chosen by Zeugma Systems to verify the real-world performance and stress resilience of its Zeugma Services Node service delivery router, Agilent’s Network Tester Layer 4-7 test solution offers wire-speed performance and a broad range of natively supported multiplay applications. Network Tester generates realistic multiprotocol traffic mixes at high scale, which allows users to subject equipment to conditions of load and stress to simulate customers’ broadband networks. It also provides a way to simulate new revenue-generating services and validate equipment functionality, such as QoS-enhanced OTT video and URL filtering.

Finally, the WireScope Pro Category 3 to 6A, Class C to E, EA, and F LAN cabling certification tester for network administrators and network integrators handles tasks ranging from cabling installation to service turn-up and troubleshooting. Two new software licenses for WireScope Pro let users validate and prequalify the quality of VoIP services and to stress test Ethernet connections.
