Microwave generators get pulse-train and power-analysis options

Rohde & Schwarz has expanded the capabilities of its R&S SMF100A microwave signal generator with two new options: the R&S SMF-K27 option allows users to configure pulse trains for radar-specific developments and tests, and the R&S SMF-K28 option enables the R&S SMF100A to handle power analysis.
The R&S SMF-K27 option allows users to generate pulse trains with very short rise and fall times. It makes use of the full dynamic range and speed of the pulse generator and modulator that can be integrated as options into the R&S SMF100A.
The R&S SMF-K28 option can substitute for a separate power meter or spectrum analyzer by performing power analyses such as compression point measurements using an SMF100A microwave signal generator. The results can be read, stored, and displayed. In addition, the power versus frequency value can be measured to test the frequency response of a filter, for example.
The R&S SMF-K27 option for pulse trains and the R&S SMF-K28 option for power analysis are priced at $2110 each. To benefit from the pulse train option, the R&S SMF100A must be equipped with the R&S SMF-K3 (pulse modulator) and the R&S SMF-K23 (pulse generator) options.
