Digi expands IEEE 802.15.4 wireless networking portfolio

-- Test & Measurement World, 8/5/2008 7:57:00 AM

Digi International offers new versions of its ConnectPort X gateways, XBee adapters, and developments kits that are compatible with existing XBee and XBee-PRO IEEE 802.15.4 embedded RF modules. Together, these products allow you to wirelessly enable distributed groups of electronic devices and connect those devices to the Internet where they can be monitored remotely. They support point-to-multipoint wireless connectivity and are useful for latency-sensitive drop-in networking applications.

XBee 802.15.4 modules are available in standard and extended-range versions that provide embeddable wireless connectivity for sensors and other devices. XBee 802.15.4 adapters also come in standard and extended-range versions and offer a means of wirelessly enabling existing devices that are already deployed in the field.

ConnectPort X gateways provide IP connectivity to the 802.15.4 device network over cellular, WiFi, and Ethernet, allowing you to build fully wireless deployments without the need for a wired network infrastructure. Drop-in networking kits let you build a proof-of-concept system from a selection of these different components.
