LXI a natural for remote testing
September 14, 2006

One of the added benefits of LXI for switching applications is that it readily lends itself to remote testing requirements in what I will call non-traditional ATE applications. For example, we are finding that telecom R&D engineers like the idea of either dropping a serial line, such as a T1 or even an OC64 fiber, or injecting faults in the connections to a telecom switch or edge router and watching the results from their cubicle. In the past, they would have to be in the lab itself to inject such a fault. We see similar requirements in field applications ranging from Cable TV to a server farm, where they normally have to initiate what is known as a "Truck Roll" and visit the location to make such tests.--Bob Stasonis, Pickering Interfaces, LXI Marketing Committee Group Chair
