In memoriam
April 13, 2007

I was saddened to learn that Stu Streiff, Principal Architect at National Instruments, passed away this week. Stu had been in the test business for much of his career, first with Keithley, then with his company PC Instruments, and finally with NI. I met Stu in 1994 or 1995 when he came to the T&MW offices to show us his first PC Instruments product, an ISA-bus oscilloscope. Over the years, I'd relied on Stu for both his technical and market insight into the test field. I'll miss him.

My heart goes out to his family in these difficult times.

Martin, I have worked with Stu over the last 6 years at NI and it was my pleasure to know him as a close friend. We held a memorial service for him in Austin yesterday and it was attended by a large contingent of NI's finest, including Dr T (CEO) and Tim Dehne (Sr VP). I sent a link to your comments to his family. They are humbled by how far and wide his reach was. Jeff Eldridge National Instruments

I had lost contact with Stu many years ago. I worked with stu at Nicolet Instruments, here in Madison. He was at Nicolet between Keithley and the PC Instruments company that he founded with Art Smith. I did some contract work for Stu and Art on that first ISA board. I still have the first board that was hand wired, used for testing the portion of the hardware that I did the programming for. It was a shock to learn tonight of his passing, at our bowling banquet, from others that knew him as well. He will be missed.

Martin, I spent alot of time with Stu at various trade shows when he was with PC instruments and when I was at Geotest. He was a great marketeer and was wonderful in dealing with customers and assisting with their applications. We both moved on to different jobs, but I ended up supporting him as my customer at NI. He was a great guy. Steve Case - TestEquity.
