Zap city
February 20, 2007

Winter's cold brings with it dry weather and with dry weather comes static. Here are some examples.

Every time I get out of my car and touch the door frame, I get zapped. Whenever I carry a laundry basket to the basement to wash clothes and I get my bare arm to close to the basket, I can feel the electric charge. It makes my arm tingle and the hair literally rises. But get this. Last week, there were a few hairs stuck inside the basket from the dirty clothes. When I ran my arm over the outside of the basket near the inside hairs, the hairs would jump off to another place in the basket. Talk about charged.

Remember, static discharges kill electronics, I once destroyed a PC motherboard from a discharge I couldn't feel.
