Test system upgrade perils

Have you ever upgraded an automated test stand with a new PC? Of course you have. What problems occurred with a new operating system (such as Win98 to XP or XP to Vista) that you couldn't possibly anticipate? What if you just upgraded to a faster PC? Did you have to rewrite code because of timing errors?
Did you ever go back to the old PC because it worked better?
