A discontinued workhorse
September 21, 2006

Recently, a calibration lab manager found himself in a quandry. For years, he's used an HP8902A measuring receiver to perform RF/microwave calibrations. Agilent has discontinued the 8902A lab manager needs to replace it, but with what? Agilen recommends the N5531S and Rohde & Schwarz offers the FSMR. Have you faced this situation? What have you done? Do you plan to use the HP8902 for as long as it works?

Do you face a similar problem replacing obsolete test and calibration equipment? What have you done? I'd like to know. Please send e-mail to m.rowe@tmworld.com.
