eBay addicts lose jobs
September 27, 2007

Three workers lost their jobs at the Neath Port Talbot Council for spending too much time on eBay, reports the BBC: “One was sacked and two resigned after managers at found some staff were spending up to two hours a day on the website.”

According to the BBC article, “The council, which employs 7500 staff, had security software in place to prevent access to inappropriate websites such as porn sites but not eBay sites.”

Union officials have blamed bosses for "putting temptation in [the employees’] way"—by allowing access to the Internet.

It sounds like the “stop me before I shop again” excuse.
