Jet-fuel-powered iPods
July 10, 2007

With regard to my post yesterday on the Inflight Power energy gadget, Farhad Manjoo of Salon has added a clarification to his own article on the topic. He notes in an update that the Inflight Power gadget is “not quite ‘green’—it’s powered, after all, by jet fuel.” He adds that he should have said that the gadget uses the technology that enables true energy-harvesting applications.

On another note, just how much power could you draw from an airplane seat audio jack? I don’t have an airplane to experiment on right here, and I’m not sure the flight attendants (or armed air marshals) would take kindly to any experiments I might want conduct on my next flight.
