Space design challenge 2011
2011 will ring in another year for a NASA space design competition. For students who wish to help further space exploration and development, ASA is searching for college and graduate level students In the US who are interested in devising technology for the 2011 Space Tech Engineering Design Challenge. ASA has requested that those who have competed in other NASA contests, such as Lunabotics or RASC-AL may not submit the same entries used for these competitions. Originality is encouraged for any enrolled full-time students that currently attend an accredited US university, college, trade school, community college, or professional school that wish to compete in the challenge.
According to the rules and regulations, the competition is accepting designs in technology development in areas such as “Autonomous Operations, Entry, Descent and Landing, Human Factors, Power/Propulsion including for operation in space and on other planetary bodies, Robotics (not related to in-situ lunar samples.)”
This year, the prizes are expected to include a paid internship in the summer or the fall with NASA Field Centers for teams that score high in the competition. ASA has also put together a travel stipend or cash prizes for if an internship is not feasible for the winners.
Questions about the challenge should be directed to Elizabeth Ward at Elizabeth.B.Ward@nasa.gov.
