  • Heavy smoke ten years ago today

    December 3, 2009

In our May 2009 cover article, “Finding firefighters through heavy smoke,” I reported on a research project at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) where faculty and students are developing an RF-based system for locating firefighters in burning buildings. On November 30,  WPI announced that the school has received a $1 million award to complete the work.
