Windows 7: The hacking is on
The popular and PC press surrounding Windows 7 has been nothing short of astonishing, with all of it good. Even a software-engineer friend said that his home server problems we fixed by upgrading fro Vista to Windows 7. Given all of this, I wondered how long it would take for the hackers and virus writers to begin bringing the hype back to Earth. It was just a matter of time until the security alerts started coming in. I thought it might take 6-12 months, but I was wrong.
Today ZDNET reports on the first of what I expect will be many security alerts and fixes for Windows 7.
I’ll wait for my home PCs to die before upgrading. T&MW’s IT department will probably wait for Win7 SP2 before upgrading.

If you don't like Microsoft Operating Systems, then move to Linux or Apple. Otherwise, quit complaining about a company that creates an operating system that supports thousands of applications, hundreds if not thousands of hardware configurations, and provides tools to create your own apps to run on their operating system. Maybe you should understand the difference between 'hype' and 'reality' before you say that the 'hype' has been brought back to Earth...
The security alert you link to in your article is so far-fetched that it is a joke. Anyone that expects any company to prevent every ridiculous type of problem right out of the box is a complete dork.

"fixed by upgrading fro Vista to Windows 7" ... that's not saying much, Vista was nearly a complete joke, your friend should have stayed on XP, especially with a server. I'd say if your on XP, you can wait for the first round of bugs to iron out (say SP1) but if your on Vista, move as fast as you can. Vista had far to poor of a design to stay on any longer than you have to.
