SUPERCOMM show cancelled
The organizers of the SUPERCOMM show and conference have canceled this year’s event. A short press release said it all:
Convention planner EXPOCOMM told USTelecom and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) it will not manage the SUPERCOMM trade show in 2010, due to financial projections for the show this year. As a result, the two associations jointly decided to cancel the event that was tentatively set for this fall. USTelecom and TIA said they have enjoyed working together on the show, and look forward to future collaborative efforts.
SUPERCOMM was focused on communications network installation and maintenance and it did include numerous test-equipment companies. It started life as SUPERCOMM, but was also known as Globalcomm and NXTcomm before circling back to its original name in 2009. I had attended SUPERCOMM under each of its names. Attendance had been dropping for several years. Even the 2006 Globalcomm show had missed its target attendance number, which was 20,000 at that time.
My May 2005 cover story with Ciena came as a result of a contact through the show.
