Send us your test ideas
Since June 2008, Test & Measurement World has been running a series called “Test Ideas,” which is based on “Design Ideas” in our sister publication, EDN. With a few exceptions, the Test Ideas submissions have really been Design ideas. That have been circuits to generate signals or make measurements rather than measurement systems, which is more in line with test engineers. We have run some system-oriented Test Ideas such as Emulate SPI signals with a digital I/O card and Generate a swept sine in LabView.
In the upcoming two issues, you’ll be seeing more test-system-oriented ideas. Both applications use a USB digital I/O module in addition to other instruments. The two applications are quite different and I thik you’ll find them interesting and useful.
Those two ideas are the kind I’ve been looking for. Now I’d like to keep it going. If you have an idea to share, send it to tmwtestideas@reedbusiness.com. Your idea can cover a complete test system, a specific aspect of a test system, a programming technique, a measurement technique, or a data-analysis method. As with EDN’s Design Ideas, we’ll pay $150 for a published test idea.
