  • Samplify touts medical, wireless applications

    September 22, 2009

Samplify Systems has applied its digital signal compression technology to applications including automated test equipment (see “Digital signal compression in mixed-signal ATE“), and the company won one of EDN’s 19th annual Innovation awards in the category “ADCs and DACs” for its SAM1600 family ADCs with integrated signal compression. Now at this week’s Embedded Systems Conference, the company is emphasizing medical as well as wireless infrastructure applications. On the medical front, Samplify’s CTO and founder Al Wegener participated in a panel discussion (which I unfortunately could not attend) on global medical electronics applications, in which he commented on the use of compression technology integrated into data converters to reduce medical imaging costs while maintaining high levels of performance. The company also announced a reference design for the ultrasound market.

For communications infrastructure, Samplify said it had entered into a distribution agreement with Silicon Valley Tech, which will distribute Samplify’s SAM1600 family of products to wireless OEMs in the Korean market. The companies also announced a design win with Korean wireless manufacturer IntelRa for a wireless repeater module.
