Test & Measurement World Staff - July 21, 2012
Based on a Sony ICX618 CCD image sensor with a global shutter, the FL3-GE-03S1 camera from Point Grey Research comes in both color and monochrome versions housed in a compact 29×29×30-mm package. A combination of speed, sensitivity, and size makes the Flea3 GigE camera useful for machine-vision applications, as well as a suitable replacement for analog cameras.
The FL3-GE-03S1 operates at a frame rate of 120 fps with full 648×488-pixel resolution and even faster for smaller regions of interest. Like other Flea3 family members, the camera offers such features as 8-pin optoisolated GPIO for industrial triggering and strobe output; 1 Mbyte of flash memory for user data storage; and an on-camera frame buffer for retransmitting images.
A Gigabit Ethernet interface allows image transmission over distances of up to 100 m.Compliance with the GigE Vision V1.2 specification enables the camera to work seamlessly with software from Cognex, MathWorks, Matrox, MVTec, and National Instruments.
