System tests algorithms that combine GNSS and MEMS
Test & Measurement World Staff - August 11, 2012
SimSensor software from Spirent Communications enables performance testing of sensor fusion algorithms in multi-GNSS navigation systems that employ MEMS inertial sensors. Aimed at the R&D environment, SimSensor works in tandem with Spirent’s multi-GNSS constellation simulators to simulate MEMS sensor outputs on a common trajectory with the simulated GNSS signals.
The software simulates the output of four key MEMS sensors commonly included in location-aware devices: accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, and barometers. Representative MEMS noise models and errors, such as bias and drift, are included and available under user control, as are trajectories that provide representative human-motion gestures.
