IR transmitters measure temperatures up to 1000°C
Test & Measurement World Staff - August 14, 2012
Omega Engineering’s OS151-USB series of noncontact infrared temperature transmitters measures temperatures from –40°C to +1000°C (–40°F to +1832°F) with a response time of 240 ms. Each device’s 4-to-20-mA output is compatible with almost any indicator, controller, recorder, or data logger without the need for special interfacing or signal conditioning.
The series comprises three models: the OS151-USB has a 15:1 field-of-view; the OS301-USB has 30:1 field-of-view; and the OS801-USB measures a spot size of 5 mm (0.20 in.) in diameter at a distance of 100 mm (3.9 in.). Sensors come in a sealed stainless-steel housing that carries an IP65 rating.
All of the devices are configured from a PC using the supplied software and USB cable. Software-programmable functions include range and emissivity; reflected energy compensation; max, min, average, or instantaneous readings; and peak or valley hold. These functions can also be monitored and adjusted by an OPC (open process control) client.
Prices for the OS151-USB, OS301-USB, and OS801-USB are $593, $678, and $763, respectively.
