Handler’s 2-D code reader enhances traceability

Multitest now offers its MT2168 pick-and-place handler with a 2-D code reader, an option that the company says ensures 100% device traceability and lot integrity. The reader, which can be retrofitted in the field, improves semiconductor-production quality and is particularly beneficial for critical components, such as automotive packages.

The 2-D code reader identifies each individual package. Each package ID can then be used to verify the data with the lot information that has been provided to the handler via manual HMI input or a scanned bar code. Additionally, the ID of each device-under-test can be read by the tester via an RS-232 or IEEE 488 interface. Using the package ID, the test result can be unambiguously assigned to the DUT ID.

Multitest’s MT2168 pick-and-place handler accommodates a wide range of package types, including DIP, BGA, PGA, SO, QFP, QFN, LGA, TO, MCM, and WLP. It offers up to 16 contact sites and a throughput of up to 18,000 units per hour.
