Associated Research expands compliance analyzer line
Test & Measurement World Staff - August 28, 2012
Five new models join the Omnia II series of electrical safety compliance analyzers from Associated Research, providing storage for up to 10,000 test steps for multiple programmable memory/step combinations. The multifunction instruments feature an 800×480-pixel color TFT display, while color-coded test steps clearly indicate pass/fail conditions.
The Model 8204 is a 4-in-1 analyzer that performs AC hipot, DC hipot, 40-A ground bond, and insulation resistance testing. The Model 8254 adds 500-VA test functionality to the Model 8204. A 6-in-1 electrical safety compliance analyzer, the Model 8206 performs AC hipot, DC hipot, 40-A ground bond, insulation resistance, functional run, and line leakage testing. The Model 8256 adds 500-VA test functionality to Model 8206.
At the top of the line is the Model 8207, a 7-in-1 analyzer that performs AC hipot, DC hipot, 40- A ground bond, insulation resistance, functional run, and line leakage testing, while adding a built-in 500-VA AC power source in a single instrument. Finally, the Model 8257 adds 500-VA test functionality to the Model 8207.
A Charge-LO circuit sets a minimum charging current based on the DC test voltage, the rate of rise, and the capacitance of the DUT. This circuit confirms that the DUT is connected when performing a test. The analyzers also have a high-speed shutdown circuit to ensure operator safety. If the circuit detects excessive leakage to ground, it shuts down the high-voltage output in less than 1 ms.
Prices for the Omnia II series range from $9995 to $15,695.
