RJ45 connectors offer shielding, ground choices

Platinum Tools’ EZ-RJ45 series of connectors for use with Cat 5e and Cat 6 solid or stranded cables now offers the advantages of shielding, along with internal or external ground. The additional electrical isolation afforded by shielding makes cables less susceptible to electrical interference caused by nearby equipment or wires and less likely to cause interference themselves.
To simplify twisted-pair terminations, through holes in the RJ45 connectors allow wires to be inserted through the connector and out the front, making it easy to verify the proper wiring sequence. Pulling the connector down over the cable jacket and seating it tightly in the rear of the connector optimizes the electrical performance of the termination. Reducing the distance between the wire twists and contacts also improves performance. Connectors can be terminated using Platinum Tools’ EZ-RJ45 crimp tool, which lets you crimp and trim in one cycle.
