Removable modules tailor fiber-optic simulator

The Fiber Lab Flex optical-fiber testing platform from M2 Optics is a 19-in. rack-mount instrument that can be configured with plug-in modules for physical network emulation and other fiber-optic testing applications. It accepts up to 10 removable modules filled with up to 10 km of any fiber type or brand and supplied with any standard connector. Engineers can mix and match fiber types and lengths to build a test system that yields repeatable results.

Modules can be installed in the Fiber Lab Flex 6U chassis or used separately on a desktop. A fully loaded module with 10 km of fiber weighs 4.75 lbs. Module dimensions are 9.5×1.5×11 in. In addition to physical network simulation, the Fiber Lab Flex can be used for equipment certification, product development, quality control, and latency testing.
